Scores of Bandits killed as army troops repel  attack on military base in Niger

The Nigerian Army troops have repelled an attack by armed bandits killing scores of them  on their base in Babanna, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

 

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when the bandits, in large numbers and riding motorcycles, stormed the military base.

 

“During the exchange of gunfire, scores of the bandits were neutralised. However, the assailants managed to evacuate most of the corpses, leaving behind one body,”said the sources. 

 

The sources added that troops in the area had been placed on red alert, while the situation remained relatively calm.

 

The sources assured residents that security agencies were maintaining close surveillance to forestall further attacks.
