Teenager Arrested Over Alleged Killing of Relative During Cattle Rearing Dispute in Oyo

The Police in Oyo have arrested an 18-year-old suspect over the alleged murder of his relative during a dispute while herding cattle in Ago-Are area of the state.
Sources in Osogbo, said the incident occurred on June 7 at about 10:00 a.m. at Budo Yahaya Sando, Ofiki, in the Ago-Are Division of Oyo State.
According to the sources, the case was reported at about 12:00 noon by one Amidu Usman, who informed the police that his grandson, Hassan Bello (18), and his son, Usman (20), were involved in an altercation while rearing cattle, which escalated into violence.
The suspect was said to have allegedly used a cutlass to inflict a deep wound on the neck of the victim, leading to excessive blood loss and his death on the spot.
Police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ago-Are Division, were immediately mobilised to the scene, where the lifeless body of the victim was found lying in a pool of blood.
The corpse was evacuated and deposited at Heritage Hospital Morgue, Ago-Are, for preservation and autopsy.
The suspect, Hassan Bello, was arrested at the scene, while the blood-stained cutlass allegedly used in the attack was recovered as exhibit.
Police said photographs of the scene were taken and investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Command assured that the suspect would be prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
