Teenager dies in Gombe machete duel, one arrested

A tragic clash between two teenagers in the Tukulma District of Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State, has resulted in the death of 18-year-old Nasiru Maina.

 

Zagazola learnt that the  incident occurred on Wednesday evening at about 8:00 p.m. in Gola, near Dakkiti village, where Maina and another 18-year-old, identified as Ibrahim Umar, reportedly engaged in a violent altercation involving machetes and sticks.

 

The fight escalated quickly, leaving both young men with serious injuries. They were rushed to the Gombe Specialist Hospital for medical attention.

 

While Ibrahim Umar was treated and later discharged, Nasiru Maina succumbed to his injuries and was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

 

The deceased’s body was documented by the Gombe state Police and released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

 

The other party involved in the duel, Ibrahim Umar, has been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation by the police to determine the circumstances surrounding the fight.
