Terrorist member surrenders with AK-47, explosives in Borno

A suspected terrorist member has surrendered to troops of Sector 2 in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, handing over an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and other military items.
The terrorist reportedly surrendered at about 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2026, at the Borgozo parapet in Benisheikh town, following an approach to troops of 29 Task Force Brigade and Forest Guards.
According to security sources, the suspect claimed to have escaped from the Timbuktu Triangle on Sept. 11 before making his way to the troops to surrender.
He reportedly handed over one AK-47 rifle, one additional magazine and 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Other items surrendered included two unserviceable AK-47 magazines, one hand grenade, one locally made improvised explosive device (IED), one magazine pouch and a bicycle.
The development is significant as security forces continue to combine sustained pressure on terrorist enclaves with opportunities for members willing to abandon violence to surrender and return to peaceful civilian life.
The surrendered suspect and recovered items have been taken into custody for further processing and investigation, while security forces continue to intensify operations around the Kaga axis and other areas of Borno State.
