Troops Arrest 14 Suspected ISWAP Collaborators Along Illegal Route in Yobe

Troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade have arrested 14 suspected terrorists’ collaborators and smugglers along an illegal route in Kanama, Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were intercepted at about 5:00 a.m. on Oct. 2, 2026, by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Kanama.

The sources said the troops responded to an alert that the suspects travelling in five vehicles along an illegal route close to the military location.

Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the suspects were involved in smuggling activities and were suspected of collaborating with terrorists.

Items recovered from the suspects included a large quantity of fish, 19 mobile phones, nine ATM cards, one power bank and the sum of ₦129,250.

The sources said the suspects and recovered items remained in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

The arrest forms part of ongoing security efforts to monitor suspicious movements, disrupt illicit activities and prevent logistical support to terrorist groups operating in the region.
