Troops arrest five suspected fuel thieves in Akwa Ibom

Troops of 2 Brigade Garrison deployed at HITECH 1 along the Uyo–Oron Road in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have arrested five suspected criminals for allegedly attempting to steal Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel.
The suspects were apprehended at about 8:05 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2026, while allegedly trying to siphon fuel from a fuel dump belonging to HITECH Company.
During the operation, the troops recovered seven 25-litre jerrycans containing approximately 175 litres of AGO.
The suspects and recovered exhibits were handed over to the company’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), who subsequently transferred them to the Nigeria Police Division in Nsit Atai Local Government Area for further investigation and necessary action.
