Troops Arrest Suspected Cattle Rustler, Recover Eight Stolen Cattle in Kogi

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected cattle rustler and recovered eight rustled cattle along the Jamata–Atsawa road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Security sources said the suspect was intercepted at about 4:00 p.m. on June 7 by troops of 12 Brigade during routine security operations in the area.
According to the sources, preliminary investigations revealed that the cattle had been rustled from the Adankolo general area before the suspect was apprehended.
The recovered livestock, comprising eight cattle, were subsequently handed over to representatives of the cattle owners for proper identification and custody pending further investigations.
The suspect remains in military custody and is expected to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb cattle rustling and other forms of criminality affecting rural communities and livestock owners across the North-Central region.
Security officials have reiterated the commitment of security forces to protecting lives and property while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations against criminal elements.
