Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers in Edo

 Troops operating under Operation MESA have arrested five suspected kidnappers in Emaudo community, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

 

Security sources disclosed that the suspects were apprehended at about 9:00 a.m. on June 7 by troops of the 322 Artillery Regiment during a security operation in the area.

 

According to the sources, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had allegedly been involved in kidnapping activities within the area and its environs for the past two years.

 

The troops recovered eight mobile phones from the suspects during the operation.

 

The suspects are currently in military custody and are expected to undergo further investigation before being handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

 

The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across Edo State and neighbouring areas.

 

Security agencies have continued to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and improving public safety.

 

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the state.
