Troops arrest suspected cultist, recover firearm and drugs in Ebonyi

Troops of the Operation Ukpabi have apprehended a suspected cultist and recovered a locally made firearm, drugs, and cash in Akaeze community, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on March 15 after troops responded to intelligence on suspected cult members attacking an individual in the area.
According to the sources, the suspects fled on sighting the troops, but one suspect was apprehended during the pursuit.
Troops recovered one locally made pistol with a live cartridge, two mobile phones, hard drugs, and the sum of N2,050 from the suspect.
Security sources said the apprehended suspect and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and prosecution.
Military authorities have continued intensified patrols and surveillance in Ebonyi communities to curb cult-related activities and protect residents.
