Troops arrest suspected illegal bunkerer, seize 100 litres of refined condensate in Delta

Troops of the Joint Task Force South South, Operation Delta Safe, have arrested a suspected illegal bunkerer and intercepted about 100 litres of illegally refined condensate concealed inside tubers of yam in Delta State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 3 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2026, by personnel of CIB VIII and Tantita operatives.
The suspect was reportedly conveying the illegally refined product when security personnel intercepted him and discovered the condensate concealed in tubers of yam.
The suspect and the recovered items are currently in the custody of the troops and are expected to be handed over to the Operations Department of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division for further action.
The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation Delta Safe to disrupt illegal oil bunkering and other activities undermining the nation’s oil and gas sector.
