Troops Arrest Suspected Terrorist Collaborator at Checkpoint in Borno

Troops of 159 Battalion Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected collaborator of Boko Haram at a checkpoint in Geidam Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 7:05 p.m. on May 13, 2026, at the Mainé checkpoint during routine screening operations by troops.
The suspect was intercepted while driving a vehicle through the checkpoint, after which troops carried out preliminary investigations.
According to military sources, the suspect allegedly confessed to using his vehicle to transport terrorists to villages within the troops’ area of responsibility for the purpose of collecting illegal levies and taxes from residents.
Items recovered from the suspect included a mobile phone and the sum of ₦1,500.
The suspect and recovered items are currently in military custody pending further investigation and possible prosecution.
