Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected terrorist spy found hiding near the entrance of the 25 Brigade headquarters in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 10:15 p.m. on July 24 during a routine perimeter patrol by troops of 25 Brigade.
According to the sources, the suspect was spotted concealed behind the first security barrier leading from Damboa town into the Brigade headquarters, prompting troops to intercept and arrest him.
Items recovered from the suspect include a torchlight and a prayer rosary.
The suspect has since been taken into custody and is undergoing further interrogation at the 25 Brigade Medical Inspection Room (MIR) to determine his identity, mission and possible links to terrorist elements operating in the area.
Military sources said the arrest forms part of ongoing counter-intelligence and force protection measures aimed at preventing infiltration, surveillance and other hostile activities targeting military formations in the North-East.
They added that the overall security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining heightened vigilance and sustained offensive operations against terrorist groups.
