Troops arrest three suspected illegal miners, recover equipment in Nasarawa

Troops of 177 Guards Battalion, deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mararaba Udege, have arrested three suspected illegal miners during an anti-illegal mining operation in Nasarawa State.
Zagazola Makama reports that the operation was conducted at about 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Opa 2 in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The troops apprehended the three suspects and recovered one pumping machine, two hoses, five shovels, two diggers, two Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) gallons and one MP3 player.
The suspects and recovered items were subsequently handed over to personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and necessary action.
The operation was conducted under Operation MESA as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal mining activities and protect the state’s natural resources.
