Troops of Operation MESA have arrested two suspected carjackers and recovered a stolen vehicle along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
Security sources told Zagazola that the suspects were intercepted at about 6:53 p.m. on Thursday by troops of the 176 Guards Battalion deployed in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the sources, the suspects had allegedly attacked and stabbed the owner of the vehicle before stealing it in the Lokogoma area of Abuja.
The suspects were reportedly attempting to flee with the vehicle along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway en route to Lagos, where they allegedly intended to sell it.
Acting on intelligence, the troops intercepted the vehicle and arrested the two suspects without incident.
The recovered vehicle and the apprehended suspects are currently in military custody pending further investigation and handover to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
The sources said the operation underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat violent crimes and enhance public safety within the FCT and adjoining states.
