Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), working alongside personnel of the Nigerian Forest Security Service, local hunters and vigilantes, have discovered two abandoned criminal hideouts during an ongoing offensive operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted on June 10 across several locations, including Laide Jessy, Tasha Musa and the Minda Hills area.
According to the sources, troops of Sector 3 OPWS, deployed in Lau, launched the operation as part of efforts to flush out criminal elements and deny them safe havens within the area.
During the operation, security personnel discovered two abandoned hideouts believed to have been used by criminal groups.
No suspects were found at the locations at the time of the operation.
The sources said troops and other security personnel have continued to dominate the area, while the offensive operation remains ongoing.
They added that efforts are being intensified to locate and apprehend any criminal elements operating within the affected communities and surrounding forests.
