Troops Destroy Suspected Terrorist Camp in Zamfara Patrol Operation

Troops of the 1 Brigade Quick Response Force have destroyed suspected terrorist structures during a patrol operation in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 5:00 a.m. on May 18, 2026, when troops carried out a fighting patrol to a suspected terrorist camp around Gidan Kaso.
According to the sources, no contact was made with the suspected criminals during the operation as the camp was found deserted.
The troops, however, destroyed all living structures within the camp in line with ongoing clearance operations in the area.
The sources added that the operation was conducted without incident, while patrols had been intensified to prevent reoccupation of the area by criminal elements.
