Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, have discovered the corpse of a man identified as Joseph Dachung in a bush near Fwil village in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The corpse was discovered at about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 12 during search operations launched following an incident of cattle rustling in the area.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Dachung had earlier been reported missing by members of the community on Sept. 9, raising concerns over his whereabouts.
Troops recovered the corpse from the bush and handed it over to the community for further necessary action.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, while security personnel continue offensive operations in the general area as part of efforts to track criminal elements and prevent further incidents.
The discovery comes amid heightened security operations across parts of Plateau State, where troops have intensified patrols and searches following recent attacks and criminal activities.
