Troops eliminates several terrorists, recover motorcycles in Zamfara

Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have eliminated several terrorists in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, after a heavy gun battle forcing the surviving fighters to abandon logistics items, including motorcycles.
Security sources said the encounter occurred at about 7:50 p.m. on April 8 when troops of 1 Brigade Combat Team 5 made contact with the armed elements while advancing from Dole Moriki towards Kagara Forest in Shinkafi axis.
The troops reportedly opened fire on the terrorists during the encounter, killing several terrorists and compelling the rest of them to flee into the forest.
“Following the engagement, the terrorists abandoned their motorcycles and escaped due to the superior firepower of the troops,” the source said.
During exploitation of the general area, troops recovered five motorcycles, while one additional motorcycle was destroyed at the scene.
