Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have engaged suspected terrorists during an offensive operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, forcing them to flee.
Security sources said the encounter occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on April 8 during a clearance operation conducted by troops of Sector 2 OPEP CSI Battalion XIV, in conjunction with 332 Artillery Regiment under Operation Wutan Daji.
The troops reportedly made contact with the armed elements on motorcycles near a riverine area in Gir, within the Kukawa axis of Wase LGA.
“The troops engaged the terrorists decisively, compelling them to abandon their motorcycles and escape into nearby terrain,” a source said.
Following the engagement, troops have continued to dominate the general area as part of ongoing clearance and stabilisation operations.
Security operations remain active in the axis to prevent regrouping and restore lasting peace in affected communities.
