Troops under Operation Mesa have destroyed a reactivated suspected terrorist enclave following a fighting patrol in Kogi State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 10:00 a.m. on April 7 by combined troops of 12 Brigade, Adankolo Block Force, and troops from Oshokoshoko and Apata areas.

The troops reportedly acted on intelligence indicating the regrouping of dislodged terrorists and attempts to re-establish a previously destroyed hideout.

On arrival at the general area, the troops conducted a fighting patrol and engaged suspected elements, forcing them to flee.

“During exploitation, troops discovered a reactivated settlement showing recent human activities, but no further contact was made,” a source said.

The enclave was subsequently destroyed in situ to deny the suspects further use of the location.

Security operations have continued in the area to prevent re-infiltration and sustain pressure on criminal elements operating within the state.
