Troops Evacuate Injured Civilian After Suspected Militia Attack in Taraba Community

Troops of Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), deployed at Wukari, have conducted a fighting patrol to Tsukundi community in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State following a distress call over a suspected militia attack.
Security sources said the troops responded at about 11:45 p.m. on May 8, 2026, after reports indicated that armed men had attacked the community.
On arrival at the scene, troops gathered that the attackers had burnt several houses and injured one civilian before fleeing the area.
The injured victim was immediately evacuated by the troops to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, where he is receiving medical attention.
Troops have since dominated the general area to prevent further attacks and restore normalcy, while efforts are ongoing to track the fleeing suspects, the sources added.
