Troops Arrest Suspect with Firearm in Abia Community

Troops of 145 Battalion (Rear), deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Umuahia under Operation UDO KA, have arrested a suspect found in possession of a foreign-made firearm in Umuoriehe, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
Security sources said the arrest was made at about 10:00 a.m. on May 9, 2026, following a distress call from the village head of Umuoriehe.
Acting on the report, troops swiftly mobilised to the location and apprehended the suspect.
A foreign-made Ruger pistol was recovered from him during the operation.
The suspect and the recovered weapon are currently in military custody for further investigation and subsequent action, the sources added.
