Troops foil kidnap attempt, rescue victim in Plateau

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace, have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a civilian in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

 

A military source said the incident occurred at about 1:10 a.m. on May 6 in Latya area, following a distress call over an attempted abduction around Dura Junction.

 

According to the source, troops swiftly mobilised to the scene, forcing the suspected kidnappers to abandon their mission and flee.

 

“Troops’ prompt response compelled the criminals to abandon their objective and escape,” the source said.

 

He added that the victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.

 

The source further stated that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

 

He assured that troops would sustain aggressive patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further criminal activities.
