Troops of 25 Brigade have foiled a suspected attack by members of ISWAP the Damboa axis in Borno State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 9:35 p.m. on April 5, 2026, when hostile elements were sighted through surveillance systems advancing towards Damboa Town via the Timbuktu Triangle area.

Troops reportedly mobilised in armoured personnel carriers and moved to intercept the suspected attackers, establishing an ambush position along their route of advance.

The assailants were said to have been detected in a forested area but retreated towards the Timbuktu Triangle after coming under pressure and losing tactical advantage.

Aerial surveillance support reportedly assisted in tracking the fleeing suspects across the general area.

Subsequent exploitation of the axis on April 6 led to the recovery of abandoned items, believed to have been left behind during their withdrawal.

Security sources said the recovery indicated that the attackers may have suffered disruption and possible casualties during the encounter.

Troops have continued domination of the area through sustained patrols and surveillance operations.
