Troops Foil Terrorist Attack, Rescue Four Kidnap Victims in Sokoto

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have repelled a terrorist attack and rescued four abducted civilians during a fighting patrol in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Security sources said the troops of 8 Division Garrison, operating from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Goronyo, conducted a fighting patrol to Gorau village at about 2:50 a.m. on April 21 when they made contact with armed terrorists.
On engagement, the troops reportedly overpowered the attackers, forcing them to abandon four kidnapped victims and flee the scene.
Preliminary findings indicated that about 20 armed terrorists had earlier attacked the village, killing three civilians and injuring three others who sustained gunshot wounds.
The injured victims were evacuated for medical treatment, while the rescued abductees were safely reunited with their families.
The sources added that troops have continued clearance operations in the general area to prevent further attacks and restore normalcy.
