Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intercepted 12 cattle allegedly grazing on cultivated farmland in Chanso village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 8:25 a.m. on Oct. 26, when troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, encountered the cattle during a farm patrol.

The troops subsequently moved the livestock to their location in Gindiri pending efforts to identify the owner and resolve the matter amicably.

According to the sources, leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Chanso and Gindiri were contacted to help identify the cattle owner and facilitate a peaceful settlement with the affected farmer.

The intervention is part of ongoing efforts by troops to prevent farm destruction, reduce farmer-herder disputes and maintain peace in communities across Plateau State.

Troops have continued routine patrols across the Operation Enduring Peace Joint Operations Area to safeguard schools, places of worship and other critical national infrastructure.
