Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have intercepted about 150 cattle grazing in a restricted area in Dumwell village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on April 28 when troops deployed at Sabon Gari, while on patrol, discovered the cattle grazing in a prohibited zone.
The sources disclosed that the livestock were immediately moved to a secured military location for further necessary action.
According to the sources, leaders of the Fulani community in the area were subsequently invited to assist in identifying the owners of the cattle and to ensure compliance with grazing restrictions.
They added that troops have continued confidence-building patrols in the area to prevent further violations and maintain calm among local farming and pastoral communities.
