Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have intercepted 16 stray cattle found grazing on farmland in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on April 6, 2026, following a report of destruction of farmland in Tahoss community.

On arrival at the scene, the troops discovered that the cattle were grazing on a cabbage farm without any herder present, resulting in damage to crops.

The animals were subsequently intercepted and taken into custody by the troops.

Authorities said further action would be taken in line with existing regulations, while efforts are ongoing to identify the owner of the cattle.

Security operatives also reiterated the need for compliance with grazing regulations to prevent recurring conflicts between farmers and herders in the area.
