Troops intervene as cattle destroy farmland in Plateau

Troops of Sector 5, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), have intervened following a reported case of farm destruction at Kwatas, Tarangol District, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 6:35 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2026, when troops responded to a report of cattle allegedly grazing on farmland in the area.

According to a sources, troops arrived at the location and found a herd of cattle grazing on the farm.

The troops subsequently moved the cattle to their location for further necessary action.

The intervention is part of ongoing efforts by Operation ENDURING PEACE to prevent disputes between farming and herding communities from escalating into violence and to maintain peace in vulnerable communities across Plateau State.

Security personnel continue to monitor the situation while appropriate measures are being taken to address the reported incident.
