Troops intervene as suspected farm destruction triggers tension in Jos North

Troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intervened following a reported case of farm destruction at Haske Quarters in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, after troops deployed at Haske Quarters received a report that a farm belonging to Mr. Obed had been destroyed.
The troops immediately moved to the location to assess the situation and found three sheep grazing on the farm, while the herder reportedly fled upon sighting the soldiers.
The troops recovered the sheep and took them to their location for amicable settlement between the affected parties.
The intervention was aimed at preventing the incident from escalating into a confrontation between farmers and herders in the area.
Security personnel are expected to continue monitoring the community and surrounding areas to prevent further incidents and maintain peace between the farming and herding communities.
