Troops recover 57 cattle from suspected terrorists in Wase

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recovered 57 cattle allegedly rustled by suspected terrorists at Sabon Layi community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, when troops on night patrol responded to a report of cattle-rustling activities by suspected terrorists in the area.
The troops immediately launched a pursuit and established contact with the suspected terrorists, who reportedly abandoned the 57 cattle and fled, taking advantage of the troops’ superior firepower.
Following the recovery, the troops conducted further patrols around the general area to reassure residents and restore confidence among the local population.
The recovered livestock were subsequently moved to the troops’ base camp and are expected to be handed over to their owners in the morning.
