Troops Kill 9 Boko Haram Insurgents, Recover Arms In Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army, on clearance operations under the auspices of Operation Hadin Kai in the North East, on Thursday killed 9 Boko Haram terrorists in two separate encounters in Borno State.

It was gathered that some government backed Militias (hunters), had laid ambush at the terrorists in Lawanti axis in Banishaik and nutrialised four terrorists while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

An Intelligence Officer, told Zagazola Makama, A Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad that the troops also captured arms and ammunitions of the terrorists.

The sources said that in a seperate encounter with the terrorists, during a fighting patrol, the troops in Gubio local government area, ambush some terrorists on Motorcycles at a crossing point around Gajiram general area, killing 6 terrorists, recovered three of their Motorcycles and Ak47 riffles.

Zagazola understand that the troops of Operation Hadin Kai, have intensified operations aimed at denying Boko Haram/ISWAP freedom of action in the Theartre.

Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa, The Theartre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, North East Joint Task Force has recently said that the aim of Operation Desert Sanity was to see that they destroyed, distablised and deny the insurgents the ability to conduct any threat within the North East

He said "Combinely, we are dealing with lake Sanity, which is the MNJTF, to ensure that boundaries Nigeria, Cemroon, Chad and Niger are adequately manned and covered to deny them the ability of moving from one place to the other.

"We know that what they do is that once there is an attack here, they move to another safe area and when you move, they now returned.

"So we are diong this to make sure that all the sectors and Multinational Joint Task Force are working simultaneously to ensure that the threat is contained.
