Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested two suspected drug peddlers during a raid in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 12:30 p.m. on June 4 at Tsamiyar Beje Village, where the suspects were apprehended following intelligence reports.
According to the sources, the joint team recovered 110 grammes of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and two grammes of suspected tramadol from the suspects.
The sources alleged that the suspects were involved in the supply of illicit drugs and other prohibited substances to criminal elements operating within Kafur and surrounding communities.
“The operation led to the arrest of two suspected drug suppliers and the recovery of substances believed to be Cannabis Sativa and tramadol,” the sources said.
They noted that the raid formed part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt criminal networks and cut off sources of logistics and support to criminal elements.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Security agencies have continued to intensify operations aimed at combating drug trafficking and preventing the circulation of illicit substances linked to criminal activities across the state.
