Troops of the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, in coordination with ground forces, have neutralised about 20 terrorists during an exploitation operation in Zamfara State.

Security sources said that the operation took place at about 1340 hours on May 10, 2026, following aerial interdiction of suspected terrorist locations.

The sources said combined troops drawn from Forward Operating Bases in Isa and Shinkafi conducted a follow-up exploitation operation to Tunfa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, the troops advanced through Kamawara in Isa LGA and other adjoining communities including Kalage, Kalage Jena and Mashema before arriving at the target location.

Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) reportedly indicated that about 20 terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while two motorcycles were recovered from the scene.

Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on criminal elements and deny them freedom of action across Zamfara State and surrounding areas.

They added that troops will continue coordinated air and ground operations to consolidate gains and ensure lasting peace in the North West region.
