Troops neutralise one terrorist, recover arms in Lokoja, Kogi

Troops of 12 Brigade have neutralised one suspected terrorist and recovered arms and logistics during an ambush operation in Owara community, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 5:00 p.m. on March 24, following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists into the area.
The sources disclosed that the troops, under a blocking force deployment, laid ambush along a suspected withdrawal route and engaged the fleeing suspects.
“The terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray following the troops’ superior firepower,” the source said.
According to the source, exploitation of the area led to the discovery of the body of one neutralised suspect.
Items recovered from the scene include two AK-47 magazines loaded with 10 and two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, as well as two motorcycles and other sundry items.
Residents have been urged to continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
