Troops neutralise suspected terrorist in Bama ambush in Borno

Troops of 151 Task Force Battalion have neutralised a suspected terrorist during an ambush operation in Ngurusoye village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 12:29 a.m. on April 5, 2026, when troops positioned at a suspected crossing point sighted members of the Islamic State West Africa Province and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad advancing from the Bula Daloye axis.
The troops reportedly engaged the suspects and neutralised one during the encounter.
A locally made firearm, described as a dane gun, was recovered from the scene.
Authorities said troops have continued patrols and domination of the general area to prevent further infiltration and attacks.
