Troops Neutralise Two Suspected Terrorists in Benue Offensive Operation

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralised two suspected terrorists during an offensive operation in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 5:30 a.m. on May 31 at suspected terrorist enclaves in Imande Igigh community.
According to the sources, troops deployed at Tor-Donga conducted the offensive operation following credible intelligence on the movement and activities of armed elements in the area.
The sources said contact was made with the suspects during the operation, resulting in a brief exchange in which two of the armed men were neutralised, while others fled the scene.
Following the encounter, the troops recovered one AK-47 magazine, four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and other sundry items from the location.
The recovered items are currently in the custody of the troops for further investigation and necessary action.
Security personnel have since continued exploitation operations in the general area to track fleeing suspects and deny criminal elements freedom of movement.
The sources added that OPWS remains committed to sustaining aggressive operations against armed groups and ensuring the restoration of peace and security across Benue State and adjoining areas.
