Troops, police foil kidnap attempt in Bauchi, rescue victim

Troops of Sector 1 of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, have foiled a kidnap attempt in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, killing one suspected kidnapper and rescuing an abducted civilian.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 9:00 a.m. on July 26 at Buren Tafida Village following credible information on the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area.
The sources said the joint security team engaged the suspects in a gun battle, during which one of the kidnappers was neutralised.
One kidnapped civilian was successfully rescued during the operation without further harm.
Security forces have intensified efforts to track down other members of the criminal gang who fled the scene, while operations to rid the area of kidnapping syndicates are ongoing.
