Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered an AK-47 rifle while tracking a suspected ISWAP logistics supplier in Borno State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 9:50 a.m. on March 22, following credible intelligence on the movement of the suspect, who had reportedly evaded several previous ambushes.
The suspect was sighted at Hoyo Wuremiri village along the Maiduguri–Gubio road in Magumeri.
Troops of 212 Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), swiftly mobilised to the area and conducted a thorough search along the route where the suspect was last seen.
However, the suspect reportedly fled to an unknown destination before the arrival of the troops.
During the search operation, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and an empty magazine, believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing suspect.
Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to track and apprehend the suspect, while operations have been intensified to deny terrorists freedom of movement within the area.
