Troops conducting fighting patrols in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State have recovered a locally fabricated firearm after suspected armed elements fled on sighting security forces.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 6:40 a.m. on April 16, 2026, when troops of Operation Whirl Stroke on patrol in Kyado community sighted suspected terrorists in the area.
According to the sources, the suspects abandoned a weapon and fled immediately upon sighting the advancing troops.
