Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have repelled a suspected attack by Lakurawa terrorists and recovered rustled livestock in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. on March 19, when troops of 1 Battalion, in collaboration with Forest Rangers, came under a probing attack at Kumchi Baba Village.
The troops responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to abandon their mission and flee towards the Republic of Niger border.
Reinforcements from Kangiwa and Battalion Headquarters subsequently carried out clearance operations in Tukoyi and Goru villages along the border area.
During the operation, one suspected terrorist was apprehended, while 47 rustled goats were recovered.
The suspect and the recovered livestock are currently in the custody of troops for further action.
Sources said operations are ongoing to deny criminal elements freedom of action along the border communities.
