Troops repelled two ISWAP Attack in Banki

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled an attempted attack byIslamic State West Africa ISWAP terrorists on Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mayanti in Banki in Bama LGA in Borno State.

Intelligence spurces told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred at about 0115 hours on Sunday, March 17. Soldiers engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to retreat. No casualties were recorded on the side of the troops.

Later, at about 0203 hours, troops from a reinforcement team encountered a ISWAP ambush along the Banki Junction–Miyanti road. The insurgents had planted two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the route to disrupt the troops’ advance.

A Quick Reaction Force led by the unit commander, swiftly engaged the terrorists forcing them to flee. Two soldiers were wounded in the encounter.
