Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims following a swift response to the movement of terrorists in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation was conducted on Aug. 18 after troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, received credible intelligence on the movement of terrorists with kidnapped victims around Madaci Forest in Sabuwa LGA.

The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and made contact with the terrorists, engaging them in a gun battle that forced the criminals to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

Following an exploitation of the area, the troops successfully rescued 14 victims comprising six males and eight females.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims had been abducted from different locations within the Dandume, Bakori and Funtua areas of Katsina State.

The rescued victims were subsequently handed over to the appropriate local authorities for necessary action and reunification with their families.

The successful operation underscores the continued efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to deny terrorists and bandits the freedom to operate across the North-West and protect vulnerable communities.

The Theatre Command said troops would sustain pressure on criminal elements and intensify operations to safeguard lives and property across the Joint Operations Area.

Residents were also urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations and facilitate the rescue of kidnapped victims.
