Troops of Sector 1 have rescued a kidnapped victim in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue following a swift response to a distress call.

A military source said the incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on May 4 in Naka town.

According to the source, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ahume responded promptly to reports of a kidnapping in the area.

“On arrival, the kidnappers had fled the scene but abandoned their victim due to the pressure mounted by the approaching troops,” the source said.

He added that the troops successfully rescued one victim unhurt and recovered a motorcycle and a cutting machine suspected to have been used by the assailants.

The recovered items were later handed over to their rightful owner, while the rescued victim was reunited with his family.

The source said efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further criminal activities in the area.
