Troops rescue kidnapped victim in Benue, kidnappers flee on sighting security forces

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, have rescued a kidnapped victim during a swift response to a kidnapping incident in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 4:00 a.m. on July 8 after troops deployed at Tor-Donga received credible intelligence on the abduction at Igyudu community.
The sources said the joint security team immediately mobilised to the scene, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captive and flee into the surrounding bush on sighting the advancing troops.
The rescued victim was evacuated to a medical facility for treatment and evaluation.
Military sources said troops have launched a manhunt to track down the fleeing kidnappers and prevent further criminal activities in the area.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by Operation WHIRL STROKE to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across Benue and neighbouring states.
