Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued two kidnap victims in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State after spending more than two months in captivity.

Security sources said the victims were rescued at about 8:40 a.m. on June 22 by troops of the 22 Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi during an operation around the Ndanaku-Lata general area.

The sources disclosed that the victims were abducted on April 2, 2026, while returning from Patigi Market.

According to the sources, the successful rescue followed sustained security operations in the area aimed at dismantling criminal networks and securing local communities.

The victims were subsequently reunited with their families after the operation.

The rescue is part of ongoing military efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across Kwara and neighbouring states.

Security agencies have assured residents of their commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
