Troops rescue victim, recover ammunition after attack in Riyom in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued one victim and recovered ammunition following an attack on two locals in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 7:50 p.m. on April 6, 2026, when troops on routine patrol responded to reports of an attack along DUM village in Bachi District.
On arrival, the troops conducted a search and rescue operation, during which one of the victims was rescued.
The troops also discovered the corpse of another victim at the scene.
Items recovered include eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition and one motorcycle.
Security operatives said efforts were ongoing to track down the perpetrators, while patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further attacks.
