Troops, security agencies arrest eight suspected cultists terrorising Enugu–Ebonyi border communities

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, have arrested eight suspected cultists allegedly involved in criminal activities along the Enugu–Ebonyi border.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended at about 3:42 p.m. on July 24 during a joint operation conducted by troops of 82 Division Garrison/103 Battalion in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects were allegedly terrorising communities in Eha-Amufu and surrounding areas along the boundary between Enugu and Ebonyi states, where cult-related violence and other criminal activities have posed persistent security challenges.
Following their arrest, the eight suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Security sources said the operation forms part of sustained joint security efforts to dismantle cult groups and other criminal networks responsible for violence and insecurity in communities across the South-East.
