Atleast two persons killed and about 20 thatched huts destroyed during a violent communal clash between the Tsobo people of Waduku and the Bachama of Rugange in Lamurde Local Government Area.
Sources said the conflict erupted on July 7 at about 10:00 a.m. over a disputed piece of farmland, despite an existing court order restraining both parties from cultivating the land.
The violent confrontation led to the death of two individuals and the burning of approximately 20 thatched huts.
Security forces were swiftly deployed to the scene to restore order, and the corpses were evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital, Numan, for autopsy.
Police sources said a unit of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) had been deployed to the area to ensure peace, while the situation is being closely monitored.
The sources also confirmed that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been detailed for a discreet investigation to unravel the root cause of the violence and bring perpetrators to justice.
