Youths in Anambra protest against drugs, child trafficking, prostitution

 Some youths of Amawbia community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra on Friday staged a peaceful protest against drug trafficking, child trafficking and prostitution.

 

Zagazola gathered that about 50 youths led by Nnagbuo Chinwendu stormed the Police Command Headquarters with placards bearing inscriptions, including “No to drugs, child trafficking and prostitution.”

 

The protesters expressed concern over alleged child prostitution and drug trafficking in some brothels in Amawbia.

 

They were addressed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, who assured them that their grievances would be given the necessary attention.

 

According to the command, the protesters expressed satisfaction with the assurances and dispersed peacefully to their homes and lawful businesses.

 

It added that the situation in the state remains calm, with monitoring ongoing.
